Outside of his professional pursuits, Geoff Block enjoys following the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL).

With starting running back Saquon Barkley sidelined as a result of an ankle injury and Wayne Gallman in concussion protocol, the Giants signed free agent Buck Allen on October 11. Allen was signed by the New Orleans Saints this past May, but was cut by the team on August 9, prior to the start of the season. He last played in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens.

An alumnus of the University of Southern California, Allen was selected by the Ravens in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He played 54 games through four seasons with the team, scoring 14 touchdowns. He also registered 1,249 rushing yards and 814 receiving yards. The 28-year-old is expected to start in place of Barkley, but could even play a crucial role once Barkley returns given his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Running back Jon Hilliman was cut in a corresponding move.
